The best clients are the ones that thank you for a job well done even if delivery was delayed and slightly off schedule.
When you are in the business of producing furniture you may witness the multiple behavioural changes that occur in, ‘The Client’. This one client understood all the limitations that came from working during an ongoing pandemic, remained un-wavered in his ways and thanked us for a job well done even though the delivery was delayed and slightly off schedule.

Don’t you just love such clients?
Anyway, Our lovely client had one major problem that needed solving. He has to pack up and move from old home to new. Being such a lovely client, we just had to help him come up with ideas.
This blog will answer most of the questions that surround moving and packing especially when moving wooden furniture out of your old home and into your new one.
Plan Where It Lands
If you’re moving to a new house, decide beforehand which furniture will go where. Before you move, sketch a floor plan with the correct measurements of each room, measure your furniture and create your layout. Then, as you move things in, you (or your helpers, if you’re not there) can place your furniture in the correct spot and not have to touch it again.
Take Apart What You Can
When you’re lugging a sofa through a doorway, remember: You can always make it a few inches smaller by removing the feet. A bed for instance can easily be dismantled at the hinges and reassembled at the required location. The same principle applies to any piece of furniture you need to make sleeker or lighter: Take off any and all knobs, drawers, shelves, racks and legs.

Protect Furniture With Blankets and Plastic
Moving blankets are invaluable for protecting the items you’re moving as well as your house. Sure, renting them is cheap, but you can buy several for just a few bucks more at home centres and always have them on hand. (You’ll use them for all kinds of other things too.) To prevent damaging the finish and fragile edges of dressers, tables and other furniture, wrap the items completely with moving blankets and secure the blanket with stretch film.
Research professional moving companies.
Research is never fun. Google will overwhelm you with the sheer volume of choices for household moving companies to hire, but don’t give in to the pressure and pick the first four-star rating you see.
A moving company can often make or break your entire moving experience, so it’s important to get it right. The more effort you put into finding a reputable company with excellent customer service ahead of time, the less hassle you’ll have on moving day.
Make sure to read the company’s list of services, fine print, and refund or damage policies, too.
Pick the right moving day.
Hire your movers at least a month out so you can plan accordingly. If you have a flexible schedule, play around with potential moving dates and try to find the cheapest time of month to make an appointment.
Moving companies are busiest on weekends, so if you can skip the Saturday chaos and schedule your move for a Tuesday, you might get a significant discount.
Load heavy furniture into the moving truck first.
Have the person with the highest Tetris score be in charge of figuring out how to fit everything in the back of the moving truck in the most efficient way possible.
Load your heavy furniture first, like sofas and sectionals. Then finish with lighter items, like your DIY nightstand and folding chairs that double as clothes hangers.
Be gentle with everything, as most seemingly wooden items are not actually made from wood, but particle board. Don’t be afraid to flip things over, either — couches actually transport well on their sides and save a ton of space in the process.
